FYI, currently you must be a member of the Apple Developer program ($99/year) in order to build and run your code on an actual iOS device. (you can run code on the iOS Simulator without needing to pay) HOWEVER, when Xcode 7 comes out later this fall, that will change. With Xcode 7, anybody will be able to build and run code on actual iOS devices, so long as the device(s) are registered (i.e. logged into iCloud, etc.) with your Apple ID. (Note that if you do want to sell your apps in the App Store, you will need to join the developer program.)
