They could offer access to the content through your local cable provider (if you have one) for a per-show or per-season rental, etc Instead of making you have to pay a large monthly fee for stuff you are probably not going to bother watching. It is the same issue with Star Strek Discovery.....they aired the first couple of episodes on the CBS network and then to contiue watching you were forced to pay for CBS All Acess.
