So I recently reimaged my trusty X220 to Ubuntu from System76 Pop!_OS (sorry guys, there were some issues with it visually that drove me nuts). And I got my Synology about a month or so ago.

For the first time since a while, there is no Dropbox or Google syncing to my computer. It's all 100% going to the Synology.

It feels good knowing that your data is completely under your control. There are elements of risk, of course. But for the most part, this is pretty cool. The Synology, and the Drive software, is as good as anything made by Dropbox or Google. The fact also that Synology works with Linux is also a plus. This thing has paid for itself.
