I spent some time at one of the Google offices in the UK yesterday in London and they said that they believe that Google + is staying for Education accounts and Business accounts. The person speaking to us said that they think that Communities ‘owned’ by those type of account should remain it’s just not clear how anyone without a business or Education account will be able to access it!
