G+_Jason Perry
I am looking for an alternative to Adobe Illustrator. It's not for me so I would appreciate a program that is easy to learn. It doesn't need to be free, but subscription based is out of the question. I would almost prefer a paid option so I don't have to deal with the stigma of, "there must be something wrong with it, it's free software." Any suggestions? G+_Mark Murphy
Inkscape is fantastic for svg graphics. It's also free and open source software, so you're creations aren't tied into proprietary formats. It's also free of price, you can just download and use. There is also an option to support through donations, so you could always solve the problem of preferring a paid option by spending money on it. Otherwise CorelDraw Graphics Suite, which is as capable as Illustrator. It is however proprietary software and while it provides a free trial version there is also an excellent paid for version. G+_Paul Hutchinson
I've never considered any decent vector graphics editing program easy to learn. Ranked by easiest to learn first, my rankings are: PaintShop Pro, LibreOffice Draw, Inkscape, Illustrator.
G+_Arcturus Lancaster
If you want vector for laser cutting / cad use I recommended rhino 3d. Its not cheap . simple enough to pickup , (esp the 2d ) and super powerful if you learn it.
G+_Paul Hutchinson
BTW for people I know who've asked for my recommendation on the best software for an a task/application who them question my choice only because it's free. I simply stop giving recommendations when they ask again since they clearly have no understanding of how the software world works. There is absolutely zero correlation between software cost and usability for a particular purpose.
G+_Matt Koglin
I'd recommend you check out Affinity Designer. It not open source, but not subscription based either. $50 and a license is yours. affinity.serif.com - Affinity Designer - Professional graphic design software
