G+_Jeff Otten
Wow.. Apple Pencil, let me guess, everyone will think this Magical accessory is the first of its kind. How quickly we forget apple said they will NEVER do a stylus since your Finger is the best stylus. Magical.. FYI: the Note and Samsung tablets have had this for years. Not hating on Apple, just tired of them stealing ideas and people thinking they did it first.
G+_Michael Atkinson
All Apple showed me today is that they have no new ideas, and still don't offer a single thing I want.
G+_Carl Lundgren
I'm an Android user, but I think you're being a bit unfair to Apple on this. If the Apple pen works like a finely controlled art implement on the iPad Pro, like a wacom on steroids, then they've achieved a goal; taken a product that worked ok and made it better, and opened it up to millions more potential users. Wait and see I guess.
G+_Josh Frye
Tech innovation is now at the stage of "how can we use the old ideas for new problems" Apple used the pen with the newton, palm used it, heck windows pocket pcs used it as well. So everyone is using their old ideas.
G+_L I
Carl Lundgren for me, this isn't really on Apple but on the uncritical press that swallows all their marketing whole and refuses to challenge their assertions the way they challenge other tech companies. The snarky derision you see thrown at Android fragmentation, Windows 8, and other companies would never be shown towards Apple for whatever reason. A stylus on a big tablet makes sense - and has been done before. But there is some criticism/derision due towards the rhetoric and it shouldn't only come from Chris Hardwick on Comedy Central. G+_Carl Lundgren
Lionel D??, you're definitely correct; Apple get away with claiming to reinvent the wheel on a regular basis. Sometimes they do it right, and the iPad and iPhone are great examples of taking a category that was clunky and perfecting it. Then again, things like the Apple watch are to me a failure, as my $100 Pebble does almost everything I want from a smart watch (notifications, weather, reject calls, quick text replies etc). But that shouldn't be a reason to dismiss everything they claim, and I guess time will tell if the iPad Pro with a pen is a major step in art, design and creativity. ? G+_L I
Carl Lundgren exactly time should tell rather than announcing everything a success before it's been in the hands of real users
G+_Josh Frye
Lionel D You should watch the commentary that the Twit.tv network did on the apple announcement. They brought up the fact that the pen and keyboard are just like the MS surface more than a few times.
G+_L I
Josh Frye then I commend them. But that was not my experience reading or watching post event recaps in general.
G+_Josh Frye
Lionel D It is one of the big reasons I love twit, Leo Laporte and a few others from the old Tech TV. There are apple users in that group, but just as many Android users as well. And that is just the phone mix, getting into who uses what computer OS is another story.
