Interesting to hear the new Pixel (Pixel C) coming from Google is not running Chrome OS but Marshmellow. Is this a sign that Google may be ditching Chrome OS for Android? In a weird sort of way Google does have two OS's, one which is highly browser based, and the other is completely a mobile OS. It will be interesting to see where this actually goes. And when asked about why Android, they say to look out for future updates. Chrome OS is not as touch friendly as Android so it makes sense. Side note, it's spelled marshm*a*llow. No 'e'. ?? TBH, if they can streamline ChromeOS some more and make it more touch friendly, they might be able to put it on phones/tablets. G+_Kyle Turpin Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Isn't ChromeOS basically a stripped down windowing/desktop system on a Linux core? Couldn't they unify with an Android Linux core with ChromeOS on top? I know ChromeOS has customized bis here and there but surely those aren't impossible to port over. G+_Joseph Cappellino Posted October 5, 2015 Share Posted October 5, 2015 Kyle Turpin, yes, they both have the Linux kernel, but Android also has the Android RunTime (ART; a Java Virtual Machine (JVM)), formerly, Dalvik.
