G+_David Jenkins
I was just wondering, do you think Synology is a show sponsor?
G+_Jason Brown
They've always been good at telling their audience whenever they review a device from a sponsor
G+_Bruno Barr
I agree with Jason Brown. TWiT has always been very good at stating who's a sponsor and who's not, and I have never heard them say that Synology was. I guess you're (David Jenkins) wondering because they've been focusing on the Synology brand so much. To be honest, I think they've been focusing on Synology just because, the brand is really good. Even as I go through the various apps available for it, I'm still in awe with it's features and capabilities. In some cases, their devices can really act as servers. G+_Ben Reese
Not a sponsor in the normal sense, but it sounds like they - and others like Kingston - have sent free hardware.
G+_Jason Brown
I do think Synology devices , for all their might and glory, are an overengineered solutions for a lot of people watching. If you're just looking for a Plex box/media server, there are much more cost effective options.
G+_Brian Horovitz
Synology is not listed on there sponsor site https://twit.tv/sponsors twit.tv - Sponsors | TWiT.TV
G+_David Jenkins
It seems as if 4 out of 5 shows are about Synology. If they aren’t sponsoring, they are getting a ton of free publicity.
G+_Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ
They are not a sponsor of the network. They were not in 4 of 5 shows. They were in 4 of 7 shows because it was a "Synology Madness" series. (We spaced them out by one week each) We did a "Synology Madness" series because it was requested by our KITAs. QNAP noticed the popularity of the series and offered to send units for us to play with. Had I more time, we would have done series on those devices. (Just as we did with Netgear and our series on FreeNAS)
G+_Jason Brown
I'd love to see something on QNap!
G+_Ben Reese
Jason Brown I would too. Maybe now that they're getting Fr. Robert Ballecer, SJ out of there, maybe Qnap will send Jason Howell some hardware ?
