G+_George Kozi
So many smart people are contributors to TWiT. People who have done things, have passions, and ideas to share. I would like to see a once per season lecture done by some of them on a variety of subjects... you have the facilities, so let them freely talk for an hour about whatever they want ...The Petaluma Lectures... G+_Phillip Lemons
While that sounds good in theory, TWiT as a company cannot give people free reign to talk about whatever they want. What happens on TWiT has to be in line with the company mission. Anything transmitted by TWiT will be assumed to be the property of TWiT and reflect on its reputation--good or bad. If it does not carry out the company mission it dilutes the company's effectiveness and reputation.
G+_Dave Trautman
I think George Kozi is referring to the guests who often appear. Many of them have interesting backgrounds. I suppose that's what Triangulation is for. I certainly don't want to tune in for people from the audience.
G+_George Kozi
Triangulation is more of an interview. A lecture would be a whole different beast.

G+_Dave Trautman
Well, they could find a venue in Petaluma, ask an audience to show up, set up a projector and make is a charity event. TWiT / TED™ / Massey kinda thing. Here in the frozen north we have an annual event called the Massey Lectures which are done for radio and the national broadcaster makes time each year to play them. Many are extremely compelling. In my city one of the Hospitals got an endownment for hosting an internationally recognized person to speak for a full day to an assembled group (by reservation). They aren't recorded, but one I attended was worth more than it cost me. Some of the guests are professional presenters and would be interesting to see, but they also get paid for their appearances. Not that TWiT can't afford them, but it might have implications for the presenter in some ways. For the others it might a chance to take on a subject slightly outside of their usual track. I think this idea is worth pursuing. Perhaps an advertiser would like it. Texaco Theatre once again. (Fifties TV reference clearly intended)
