So, I was intrigued by you guys saying a PHA rate of 0.1% is good. There are close to 1bn Android devices out there, so even IF all those users are only using the Play Store, it still means 1 million devices are at risk. The real question is how this percentage relates to competitor platforms. Only then can you claim the rate is good.

Tony Brooks I tend to slightly disagree with you. I think in this case validation does not come from comparing to the competition but rather from looking at the over trends (which is a downward trend), looking at the regions where the PHA's are prevalent and where they are not (looking at you Russia) and also understanding that some PHA's are more on the potential side than the actual harmful side. At the end of the day because of Android's "open" nature their will always be opportunity for PHAs to exist but what is more important is how Google is monitoring and dealing with the threat. The report really makes for good reading https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/source.android.com/en//devices/tech/security/reports/Google_Android_Security_2014_Report_Final.pdf
