G+_Martin Smith
Hey everybody I just switched from iPhone to nexus 6, it had been two months and I still can't receive group messages from iPhone users. I have done EVERYTHING recommended online, called apple, called Verizon, had my friends delete the texts which will work for like and hour and then they go back to blue!! Wtf!! Does anyone know how to get my phone number to actually go out of that system?? Apple insists it isn't them, so does Verizon. This is Really spoiling my first Android experience. Any suggestions welcome.
G+_Quinten Neis
Have you tried a different messaging app? My wife has issues with MMS with hangouts when she tried a different messaging app ( in her case handcent) they worked fine. Hers were always going out before, they just took hours to send. G+_Davey Randa
I've been using the messages one that comes with nexus, I have tried using hangouts as well, and one other and it didn't matter, it seems to be on iPhone end is my thought cuz even if I delete my bumpy from a friend's phone and re enter it, I show up as a blue iMessage Contact
G+_Sanderson Tattersall
Don't get mad at Android though. Its always been an Apple issue.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Davey Randa this is definitely an Apple issue. If I remember correctly, you might need to use iTunes and delete your number from iMessage.
G+_Davey Randa
Joseph Cappellino?any idea how to do that through iTunes? I called apple and support said I don't exist on their server, but would love to try and double check that since it is clearly not working Still
G+_Davey Randa
Sanderson Tattersall?true, but it still sours the experience since I want to be able to participate in group texts, many are for work, and many are just friends. Missing either is enough to make me want to go back even though I am liking almost everything else better
G+_Akshay Sharma
If you still have your iPhone handy, put your sim in their and enable and disable iMessage on the iPhone. Then move your sim back out.
G+_Joseph Cappellino
Davey Randa I've never had to do it (I don't have an iPhone), but they're have been several articles on it. I'll see what I can dig up.

G+_Davey Randa
Hey akshay - I had disabled it on iPhone as well. As facetime on laptop and iPhone before switching...
G+_Davey Randa
And the detegister option has been tried. I appreciate it, but I really don't understand how else to proceed. Even apple tech says my phone number is not associated with iMessage anymore

G+_Bret Rogers
Can anyone explain to me why people are still using SMS so much? I understand that its free and data is not, but the amount of data used for messaging is so negligible and between issues like this and sending messages to wrong numbers/people I would think that people would jump at the chance to use anything other than SMS... G+_Mark Stronge
Do you have a Mac? Would that matter? What about your iTunes account, is there a phone number associated with it?
G+_Bret Rogers
It's obviously not universal.. OP is having issues. I get that there are a lot of message apps out there, but it's not like they cost money or are a problem to set up. I'm running a few myself without any issues. None of my friends here in Japan use SMS except for the one that refuses to get a smart phone. One guy... Everyone else has no issues using an app.. G+_Bret Rogers
Pay hundreds of dollars to buy a computer that fits in your pocket just to use SMS.. SMH I understand what you are saying, I just can't understand why people still use it.
