G+_john ferris
It seems the waters are a bit murky when it comes to unlocked phones and updates. I own a Nexus 5 unlocked from Google, and my carrier is T-Mobile. So.. when news that T-Mobile is releasing a security fix http://www.tmonews.com/2015/09/nexus-4-5-6-7-2013-and-9-all-getting-updates-today-says-t-mobile/ does this mean I am going to get it? If so, how does T-Mobile push the update to me, and if they do, what impact would there be if I were to say move from T-Mobile and to AT&T. What happens to the update then? I also hear it is the "carrier" that pushes google updates to the OS, like going from kitkat to lollipop, but how do 'they' control that? Could someone clear up this murkiness. http://www.tmonews.com/2015/09/nexus-4-5-6-7-2013-and-9-all-getting-updates-today-says-t-mobile
G+_Joseph Cappellino
I think it depends on where you bought the device (i.e. - your carrier vs. Google Play). I'm not 100% sure, though. Either way, you can download the OTA and sideload it if you want it sooner rather than later.
